Lodging

First of all, there is no camping. The hotels we use on our hosted overland tours vary between 3 and 5-star. Since these tours will take us through some pretty remote locations, the level of accomodations obviously depends on the destination, but we usually stay in the nicest place in the area. Just like you, we also want a hot shower and a comfortable bed at the end of an adventurous day!

Following are the current hotels we use, depending on availability:

Transportation

Our transport during the tour is as diverse as the tour itself. Following are the key segments:

Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Cusco: We will take the Vista Dome train, allowing for great views during the ride.

Cusco - Puno: For this longer segment, we will take the Andean Explorer train. The trip is 10 hours, which we will take during the day, giving you the chance to see the imposing Andes Mountains as we make our way up to the cooler Andean plains to lake Titicaca. The train will serve lunch in the dining car, and you will have access to the Observation Bar Car and an open-air Observation car as well.

Puno - Arequipa: We will use the Cruz del Sur bus company (Southern Cross) for this 6-hour ride southwest. The bus has 2 levels, with our seats being on the top. The bus includes personlized service and lunch.
