Our Story
Wangulen Odyssey began in 2006 as a small local tour operator in the charming city of Puerto Varas, Chile.
Our vision was bold: to connect Patagonia through an epic 2,500 km overland journey, a 15-day adventure linking the most remote and breathtaking corners of the region.
Back then, it was the very beginning of online travel and e-commerce. Adventurous independent travelers from around the world found us, eager to join a new way of exploring Patagonia.
Over the years, we faced—and overcame—many challenges: the global financial crisis of 2008, health outbreaks, volcanic eruptions from Chaitén, Calbuco, and Puyehue-Caulle, the powerful 2010 earthquake in Chile, and finally the global pandemic in 2019. Each obstacle only strengthened us, allowing us to refine our company, our values, and our destinations.
From our roots as Patagonia specialists, we have grown to host journeys across South America’s most magical natural destinations—from the glaciers of Torres del Paine, to the mystical Moai of Easter Island, to the unique wildlife of the Galápagos Islands, and the timeless wonder of Machu Picchu.
Today, Wangulen Odyssey stands as more than a tour operator.

The Spirit Behind the Journey
Meet Felipe Soto
My journey into the heart of travel began in 1998 as a university student backpacking through the vast landscapes of South Africa. Traveling overland from Cape Town to Johannesburg, I was struck by a powerful realization: true discovery isn't just about the destination, but the seamless connection between people, places, and the land. That spark of inspiration eventually led me back home to South America with a singular dream to create that same sense of profound connection across the rugged wilds of Patagonia.
The early years were spent behind the wheel, navigating the winding roads of Southern Chile. I learned the rhythm of the mountains and the stories of the local communities. My path took a defining turn when my first client, Roberta M. from Chicago, placed her trust in a custom itinerary I had designed. Her belief in my vision became the foundation of Wangulen Odyssey.
Over the past two decades, I have led expeditions through every corner of Patagonia, navigating the logistical and natural challenges that only this untamed region can present. As our community grew, so did our horizons; at the request of my travelers, I expanded our journeys to the most extraordinary natural wonders across the continent.
Beyond logistics and landmarks, my approach is rooted in balance and vitality. My yoga teacher training in India profoundly shaped my philosophy, teaching me the importance of health and positive energy—elements I weave into every journey I host.
Today, with over 20 years of expertise, Wangulen Odyssey has evolved from a single traveler’s trust into a global community. We remain dedicated to crafting unique, responsible, and deeply meaningful experiences across South America’s most breathtaking landscapes.
